Privacy Policy

This Policy explains what we collect when you use SportsEdgePicks, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Account info: email address and a bcrypt-hashed copy of your password. We never store your password in plain text.
- Billing info: we don't store credit card numbers. Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc., which receives your card details directly. We store only the Stripe customer ID and subscription metadata Stripe sends us via webhook.
- Usage data: standard web server logs (IP address, browser user-agent, requested URL, timestamp). These rotate after 30 days.
- Approximate location: we may derive an approximate city from your IP address to personalize the experience (for example, suggesting a display-name idea at signup). This is transient — we use it to generate the suggestion and do not store the derived location.
- Cookies: one session cookie used to keep you logged in. No third-party advertising cookies.
How we use it
- To provide the Service — display content gated by your subscription tier.
- To process payments through Stripe and apply tier upgrades when payments succeed.
- To send transactional email — account confirmation, password reset, billing receipts, subscription notices.
- To send the daily pick to subscribers who have opted in (Pro and MVP tiers).
- To detect and prevent abuse (scraping, credential sharing, fraud).
- To improve the model and the site (aggregate-only — no per-user behavior profiling).
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your information with advertisers.
Who we share data with
- Stripe, Inc. — payment processing. See Stripe's privacy policy.
- Resend (email delivery provider) — sends transactional and subscriber emails on our behalf.
- Hostinger — hosts the VPS where the site and database run.
- Law enforcement / legal process — only if compelled by a valid legal request.
How long we keep it
- Active accounts: for as long as your account is open.
- Canceled accounts: retained for 30 days after cancellation, then anonymized. Some billing records may be retained longer to satisfy tax and accounting law.
- Web server logs: 30 days.
Your rights
You can:
- Access the personal information we have about you.
- Correct inaccurate information.
- Request deletion of your account and associated personal data (subject to legal retention requirements).
- Export your account data in a portable format.
- Opt out of non-transactional email at any time (transactional billing and account email cannot be turned off while the account is active).

Children
The Service is restricted to adults 21+ and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 21. If you believe a minor has provided us information, email us and we will delete it.
Security
Passwords are stored as bcrypt hashes. Traffic to and from the site uses TLS. The database lives on a private server with access restricted to the application and the operator. No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong, unique password and notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
International users
The Service is hosted in the United States. By using the Service from outside the U.S., you consent to the transfer and processing of your information in the U.S.
California, Colorado, Virginia, and other state-level privacy rights
If you are a resident of a U.S. state with a consumer privacy law (CCPA/CPRA, CPA, VCDPA, etc.), you have the rights described above (access, correction, deletion, portability) and the right to be free from discrimination for exercising them. Email us to make a request.
Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the current version. Material changes will be communicated by email or in-app notice.
